First we find. Then we sell. Finally we buy. The person who finds a treasure goes and sells everything he has and buys it. The person who finds a pearl of rare quality also sells everything and buys it. There is a risk in selling “everything” one has before one can buy the treasure or the pearl. What if the treasure or the pearl is no longer available when one comes back with the money? It is a risk we need to take in possessing the Kingdom. The Kingdom cannot be bought piecemeal; it cannot be bought on a loan. One must sell everything one has in order to buy it. The good news is no one will steal this treasure (Matt 6:20). It’s there, waiting for our response.
