“Beloved, we are God’s children and what we shall be has not yet been shown…” Apostle John’s statement is exciting and reassuring. We know we are God’s children, thanks to the singular love the Father has for us. But it seems to be just the starters. God promises to take us further, as John tells us that we shall become something more as our life evolves and Christ appears in his glory. What could that be? It is not yet shown, but both Johns—the Apostle and the Baptist—drop more than a clue: we shall be like Christ and shall see Christ as he is, as the Lamb of God in whom there is no sin and who takes away the sin of the world. The best way to prepare for this exciting destiny is to cooperate with the grace God offers and turn away from sin, day by day. How best can I cooperate with God’s grace today?
